Registration Details

Registration for the Walkathon starts at 9:00 a.m. The Walkathon commences at 2:00 p.m.

Walkers can walk on behalf of a participating rescue, or as an individual who cares about animals, with or without an animal. Some walkers may wish to walk in memory of a beloved pet. The Walkathon is all-inclusive - you are welcome to bring any type of animal including cats, dogs, horses, ferrets, rabbits, birds or reptiles.

Registration costs $10 per walker and walkers are encouraged invite their friends and family to sponsor them in the way of pledges. Walkathon participants may begin collecting pledges as soon as they receive the pledge sheets. All pledge sheets, pledges and registration fees must be submitted on the day of the Walkathon at the Registration Booth prior to the walk. Cash or cheques are acceptable. Please make cheques to Responsible Dog Owners of Canada (one of the 2 hosting organizations).

Each rescue will be asked to recruit walkers and pledges. All pledge sheets and money will be submitted at the AWARE Festival Walkathon registration booth prior to the walk. The registration application includes a pledge sheet.

Walkers must respect the integrity of the race track. No littering. Poop and scoop is mandatory for all participants with an animal. All animals must be properly leashed or contained. Participants are encouraged to wear hats and sunscreen if it’s a sunny or rain apparel, as the walk will be hosted rain or shine.
